On Sunday February 19, 2012, the Hightstown HS Hockey Team held a fundraiser to benefit Mercer Special Hockey. The evening started off with a "Skating Celebration" where anyone could join in the fun ice skating at Mercer County Park. There were yummy snacks and hot chocolate on hand to keep the skaters warm. Everyone had a great time on the ice and the turn out was fantastic. The support from Hightstown High School was tremendous.
After the skating, the Hightstown HS Hockey team took to the ice for a fun and exciting display of their skills. And as each event was completed, the raffle drawings for the prizes kept getting better and better.
The Mercer Bulldogs and their families had a great time at the event and we would like to thank the entire Hightstown Hockey Team and their parents and booster organization for all of their efforts. All 17 of the players and countless boosters helped in the preparations and running the event. Special thanks to Coach John Baldino, Assistant Coaches Dan Voorhees and Chris Edenfeld and Hightstown player and also Mercer Bulldog Junior Coach - Grayson Petti, who helped get the whole thing started.
And on February 26th, Coach Chris Benbow and some of the Mercer Bulldog Players were on hand at the Hightstown HS Alumni Game where the Hightstown HS Hockey Team presented the Mercer Bulldogs with a $1000 check, as a result of their fundraiser on Feb 19th. It is because of the hard work and generosity of organizations like the Hightstown HS Hockey Team that we are able to keep Mercer Special Hockey going for a great group of kids.
Thank you. And... Go Rams!
