It was the coldest day of the year so far, at 16 degrees when the players arrived. For most hockey teams that is not a factor. But when you play at the Mercer County Park outdoor rink, it makes for an invigorating atmosphere.
From the opening face-off, it was clear that the Mercer Bulldogs were in for a battle against the more experienced Woodbridge Wolfpack. The goalies for both teams would not give up easy and the game was a tight battle back and forth with each team making some great plays.
In the end, the Mercer Bulldogs emerged victorious 6-5 in their first game and home opener at Mercer County Park.
The Mercer Bulldogs would like to thank all of the players and coaches from the Woodbridge Wolfpack for such a hard fought contest. The Wolfpack team showed that they are a great team and we look forward to many more games in the future.
Today the Special Hockey community was put on notice... The Mercer Bulldogs have arrived.
